Holding
Catholic Faith Necessary for Salvation: As declared by Our
predecessors, holding to the catholic faith is required for salvation by all
adult men and women, and children who have reached the age of reason. This
faith can be explicit or implicit, but one can never hold to a proposition
that contradicts the faith. The Athanasian Creed, an
infallible dogmatic creed of the Church defined at the Council of Florence
and from the earliest centuries, teaches that a man must hold and believe the
catholic faith to be saved. The "faith" is the set of propositions
that were once revealed by Christ and the Apostles (the deposit of faith) and
then taught as something to be believed either in a formal solemn
pronouncement by the extraordinary magisterium or through the unanimous
consent of the fathers. This catholic
faith must be held whole and inviolate, with no exceptions. The Athanasian
Creed specifically decreed: Whosoever will be
saved, before all things it is necessary that he hold the Catholic Faith.
Which Faith except every one do keep whole and
undefiled, without doubt he shall perish everlastingly. And the
Catholic Faith is this, that we worship one God in Trinity and Trinity in
Unity. Neither confounding the Persons, nor dividing the Substance…. He
therefore that will be saved, must thus think of the
Trinity. Furthermore, it is necessary to everlasting Salvation, that
he also believe rightly the Incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ. For the
right Faith is, that we believe and confess, that our Lord Jesus Christ, the
Son of God, is God and Man. (Athanasian Creed) Thus if you hold any
proposition contrary to the faith, you are outside of the church and salvation.
Thus both material and formal heretics are outside of the church and are
damned. Men can be outside the church through heresy, and yet not commit the
sin of heresy, nor have guilt of conscience concerning it. Thus even material
heretics, jews, or pagans who sincerely believe they are following the truth
are damned. This includes such heretics as Calvin and Luther, and others who
have even been persecuted and even died for their heresies and false views.
All these are damned despite their deluded sincerity in following their
error. This is because they ultimately
were not sincere, and God never provided them with the light of the truth by
His grace. The
Vatican II Cult, Antipope Benedict XVI, The Society of St. Pius X, The
Society of St. Pius V, CMRI, Antipope Michael I, Antipope Peter II, Antipope
Pius XIII, and Many False "Traditionalists" Deny This Dogma
Regarding Faith: The Vatican II sect (what most
men today falsely see as the Roman Catholic Church) teaches that one may be saved
by sincerity without holding the faith. It even teaches that eastern
schismatics, protestant heretics, and even pagans and jews may possess the
divine gifts of faith, hope, charity and salvation. This denies the
infallible Athanasian Creed of the Church. It also denies the Council of
Florence and the universal tradition of the saints and fathers. Only those
who hold the entire faith (at least implicitly) can be saved. A
defiled faith cannot save the soul from hell. Any soul believing a false
religion will go into condemnation and the fire of hell. Antipope Michael I in Kansas,
United States, is but one example of the many false "traditional"
popes that teach the heresy that men who reject Catholic dogma and hold to
false teaching can be saved. He allows the heretical nineteenth century Large
Baltimore Catechism, which teaches that men can saved by sincerity instead of
holding the faith. In his videos he has accepted and taught from this
catechism. He has never publicly recanted from this error. Baptism: Further, not only is
supernatural faith required for salvation, but baptism is also required. This
baptism confers and strengthens the gift of supernatural faith. This includes
both the sacramental celebration of baptism in water, as well as the traditional
teachings of "baptism of desire" and "baptism of
blood". The traditional teaching
of baptism of desire and blood for catechumens and others who hold the
Catholic faith is not a heresy. We are not referring here any the modern
teaching that gives non-Catholics salvation by baptism of desire. Baptism of
desire or blood is only possible for those who hold the Catholic faith and
teaching. If baptism of desire and blood were hereical, then many Doctors of
the Church would be outside of the Church. Further, this See has examined the
ecumenical dogmas regarding baptism, and none of them clearly deny the
possibility of baptism of desire and blood. |
